According to earlier reports, South Korean giant Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is planning to unveil the new successor to its Gear S smartwatch at the upcoming IFA 2015 event in Germany. According to a recent report by Tech Radar, Samsung could be planning to launch the Gear S2 alongside another model, called the Classic version. This will likely be a premium edition, as reported by Digital Spy.

The report by Tech Radar adds that Samsung made a similar move last year when it launched its Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch alongside the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo version.

In terms of the specs and features, both Gear S2 versions are expected to run on the Tizen operating system (OS). However, both models could differ in their support for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity.

Unlike its predecessor, the original Gear S, the Gear S2 smartwatch will sport a circular screen design and a metal body. This is also Samsung's first ever round display smartwatch.

According to an earlier report by Digital Spy, the Gear S2 will come with a rotating bezel which will enable users to navigate through the watch's apps and user interface.

Also, Phone Arena reports that another rumor has surfaced claiming the Gear S2 will come with a nano SIM card slot as well for cellular connectivity. This will enable would-be owners to make calls and browse the Internet, by connecting to a cellular network. Phone Arena adds that the Gear S2 will also support Wi-Fi connectivity.

According to recent reports, the Samsung is schedule to unveil its Gear S2 smartwatch on Sept. 3, which is a day before the IFA 2015 event kicks off.
