Two teams with playoff hopes drifting away from their grasps will collide for National Football League's (NFL) Monday Night Football as the San Diego Chargers host the Chicago Bears at the Qualcomm Stadium.

Following Week 4, the Chargers were 2–2 but since then, they failed in their last four games with the most recent setback a 29–26 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last Nov. 1.

In the defeat, San Diego also lost leading wide receiver Keenan Allen who suffered a kidney injury and is not expected to return this season because they are no longer in playoff contention.

Leading the way in the loss to the Ravens was the duo of quarterback Philip Rivers and wide receiver Malcom Floyd.

Rivers and Floyd connected in the game for two touchdowns scored in the second and third quarter but it was not enough to end a losing streak.

Rivers finished the game with 28 of 37 completions for 301 yards and three touchdowns, with the other touchdown a successful pass to Allen in the second quarter.

Floyd led all receivers in the loss as he had four receptions for 92 yards and the touchdowns that he scored.

The Chargers missed the playoffs last season and with their current form will be missing it again this year.

Meanwhile, the Bears are also riding a losing streak as they were defeated in their past two games, with the most recent against the Minnesota Vikings also on Nov. 1 at 23–20.

Now Chicago will have to try and win without running back Matt Forte who is reported to miss the game due to a knee injury sustained in the loss to the Vikings.

The Associated Press also reported that along with Forte, wide receiver Eddie Royal will be out as well, also with a knee injury suffered against Minnesota.

Like the Chargers, the Bears failed to make it to the playoffs last season and are also looking at an early elimination this 2015 season.

The game between the Chargers and Bears will be played today, Nov. 9, at 8:30 p.m. EST.
