In what seemed to be an epic comeback into the spotlight after the year saw her struggle with lupus and a kidney transplant, Selena Gomez performed her song "Wolves" at the 2017 American Music Awards, much to the delight of her fans. But, others who saw her performance were quick to slam the former Disney star for allegedly lip syncing.
Gomez's performance at the AMA's, which was also graced by numerous artists like Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Diana Ross, saw her on top of a car while dancers surrounded her. But, more than her performance, fans noted that the "Fetish" singer was lip-syncing to her own song.
Fans noted how her mouth was not in sync with what was being heard. One user tweeted that the performer could not sing. Another one, who said she loved Gomez, explained that the 25-year-old singer should just admit her inability to sing instead of pretending that she can. The commenter also pointed out that Gomez had been bowing her head down to avoid being caught.
But, of course, die-hard fans of Gomez came rushing to the defense of their idol. "YALL CAN NEVER LEAVE SELENA GOMEZ ALONE! she did amazing and y'all can not accept the fact that she did her best!" user @r_roelio tweeted.
Another user expressed support for Gomez and reminded everyone that people ought to cut her some slack as she had just undergone a kidney transplant. This sentiment echoed the opinion of another, who slammed those criticizing Gomez and added that she had gone through a lot this year.
Meanwhile, this was not the only thing noticeable about the "Bad Liar" singer. During the awards show, she also sported blonde hair and was without her rumored beau, Justin Bieber, both of which caught the attention of supporters.
