"Sense8," which debuted in 2015, revolves around eight individuals from different parts of the globe, who are mentally connected by a vision. Now, the show is returning for its second season and fans are set to witness some changes.
The second season of "Sense8" will be seeing a change in direction, which is simply a "course correction," according to Screen Rant. Given the high production costs, as well as the technical and logistical difficulties that are present in shaping the series, it was reasonable for the show creators — Lana Wachowski, Lilly Wachowski, and J. Michael Straczynski — to lead season 1 into the direction that gave the viewers both an ending and a cliffhanger, as a second season was not confirmed yet at the time.
The freshman season ended with Will Gorski (Brian J. Smith) accidentally making eye contact with Mr. Whispers (Terrence Mann), which resulted in his mind, as well as his cluster, opening up to the villain. This raised a lot of questions from the viewers, but according to the publication, the show will soon try to address Will's condition and the threat of Mr. Whispers, making them the focus of the narrative in a way that also paves the way for the overarching plot of the second season.
In the "Sense8" season 2 trailer that was recently released, Will is still trying to protect his cluster of sensates, despite Mr. Whispers already having entered his mind. "Nothing changes if we keep playing it safe," he is heard saying in the clip. "Whispers has turned me into a fugitive. He could be listening at any moment."
The show is also said to have more action in the second season. Given that a secret organization called BPO is out tracking the sensates and others just like them, they will work to protect themselves from the dark forces that are hunting them down.
More importantly, according to IGN, is the coming together of the sensates. They will also be better at communicating and calling upon each other's abilities when needed, compared with the previous season. "What happened in Season 1 is that we're all understanding the fact that we're Sensates and understanding how we visit and when it would happen and all of those things. Now we've figured that out," Tina Desai, who plays Kala in the series, told IGN.
"Sense8" season 2 is now available for streaming on Netflix. The second season of the science fiction drama series is created by Lana Wachowski, J. Michael Straczynski, and Grant Hill.
