Tennis superstar Serena Williams and fiancé Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, will have a fall baby.

This was confirmed by a representative of the athlete on People. This means that Williams may already have been at the early stages of pregnancy when she won her 23rd Grand Slam title at the Australian Open against her sister Venus last January.

The couple announced their engagement, appropriately on Reddit, last December. Ohanian proposed to her in the same restaurant in Rome where they first met. They dated for 15 months prior to the engagement. Williams announced her pregnancy on a now-deleted Snapchat post with the caption "20 weeks."

Williams said she will be taking a break from tennis until the baby is born. However, she said she will return by 2018. Prior to her pregnancy, she mentioned that she will be playing at the Madrid Open on May 6–13 to give herself time to recover from a knee injury.

While her pregnancy means she will not be able to play during the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, a lot of people have expressed their happiness for Williams and Ohanian, with fans and fellow athletes, including fellow tennis superstars Chris Evert and Andy Roddick, sending congratulations their way via social media.

Steve Simon, the chief executive of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) also expressed his happiness for the couple, adding that the WTA is anticipating her return in 2018. He said, "We're excited for Serena. This is wonderful news and we wish her the very best. We'll look forward to seeing her when she's back competing again."

Williams is the second on the list of women with the most number of all-time grand slam singles, with seven victories between 2002 to 2017. She also holds the most major titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles among active players.
