"Shadow of the Colossus" is getting ready to overshadow all other classic video game remakes, as the game provides a stunning new take on the 2005 masterpiece.

The reviews are in for the game remake and they are quite stellar, with one critic even stating that the game certainly raises the standards for other remakes of the most popular and celebrated games of the past. Those who have not experienced the magic of the 2005 original due to a lack of PlayStation 2 (PS2), and also those who thought the 2011 PS3 remaster was lacking, will surely be satisfied with this one.

The remake is perhaps even as highly praised as the original, having a Metacritic critic Metascore of 92 based on 74 critic reviews. Although the user score is yet to be revealed since the game has about two days left until official release, which is on Feb. 6 for the PS4 only, it can be expected to be on the same level as the critic aggregate score.

It also seems that critics are unanimously complimenting the game and hailing it as a worthy remake of the original, which in itself was even considered the best reason for a video game to be considered as an art form. It is worth noting that the "Shadow of the Colossus (2018)" is a remake and not just a mere remaster, meaning it was built from the ground up using a more modern PS4-ready game engine, with some of the audio and voice acting even redone to fit modern standards.

This makes it on par with the biggest and most graphically beautiful AAA titles last year. Those who have played the original will find plenty of familiar moments as the plot and storyline practically remain the same, in which Wander braves a foggy wasteland with his horse Argo in order to take down 16 gigantic entities known as Colossi in order to bring a dead girl back to life.

"Shadow of the Colossus" will be available to PS4 owners on Feb. 6.
