Tom Mison finally shared how he feels regarding the absence of co-star Nicole Beharie in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4.

Speaking with The Realistic Optimist during a conversation held at the London MCM Comic Con last weekend, the actor expressed his sadness upon hearing the news of Beharie's departure.

"Abbie Mills represented more than just another character in the show [sic]," the actor said. "It wasn't an easy decision for them [the writers] to make. I know that. The writers, they like writing Abbie Mills. And I like acting with Nicole."

The actor also talked about the fans' perception about Abbie's ultimate death in season 3, since most of the viewers believed that the female lead star was placed on the sidelines in order to make the male lead stand out.

"When you have a woman of color in the lead role, it's not just a woman of color in the lead role. It immediately means so much more than that across the whole of America. There's a woman of color in a position that not very long ago she wouldn't have been," Mison said. "It comes to symbolize so much more. So when something like this happens, when they kill off said character, of course it's going to mean an awful lot more, consequently."

The actor revealed that he and Beharie are still friends in real life. He also teased what is in store for his character Ichabod in season 4.

According to Mison, the writers are planning to bring Ichabod inside the world of a new organization opened by Washington. This excites Mison, since he believes that the US is currently experiencing a weird time in the modern American history.

"To have Donald Trump running for president—that's weird! That's just weird. And I think if we are going to be shooting in Washington we shouldn't hide from the fact that there has to be some dark underground force that is making this surreal turn of events happen," the actor stated.

"Sleepy Hollow" season 4 is scheduled to premiere on FOX in the middle of the fall 2016-2017 season.
