Tech companies and hardware enthusiasts alike are already getting excited for the impending release of the Snapdragon 820 chip from Qualcomm, and the good news is that they may soon find the new product all around them.

According to news coming out from China and reported by Phone Arena, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chip is currently garnering a lot of interest from companies all over the world. The report went on to say that Qualcomm President Frank Meng has even indicated that there are supposedly no fewer than 30 smartphones currently testing out the new Snapdragon 820.

Reports of the Snapdragon 820 being tested out by a number of smartphone manufacturers shouldn't come as much of a surprise given how a lot of companies already use Qualcomm's chips anyway. Companies that have been known to use the Snapdragon variety of chips in the past include HTC, LG, Sony, Xiaomi, and ZTE, according to iDigital Times.

HTC is already expected to use the new chip for their HTC O2 model, while Xiaomi is supposedly planning to feature Qualcomm's latest offering in their Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro Plus units.

Interestingly enough, there may be a new company joining that group of Snapdragon enthusiasts, as Samsung is reportedly planning to use the Snapdragon 820 chip for the upcoming Galaxy S7, according to Ubergizmo. Rumors of Samsung using the Snapdragon 820 is more interesting given the fact that the company has previously featured their own brand of Exynos chips for their most recent releases. Samsung has yet to confirm that they are indeed planning to use the Snapdragon 820.

Another new fone, the Padfone S2 from ASUS, is also expected to come out with the Snapdragon upon being released.

Even if all those aforementioned smartphones do end up using the Snapdragon 820, the total would still fall way short of 30, so expect more news about the chip being featured in more smartphones in the months ahead.
