Contrary to previous reports that the Sony Xperia Z3 will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update in February, new reports are now pointing to March.

Xperia Blog cited Canadian carrier Rogers claiming that the Xperia Z3 will begin receiving the update in March, while Xperia Z1 users may have to wait a month longer as the upgrade will be delivered in April.

Sony previously announced that the latest and biggest Android update will be coming to the Xperia Z series of smartphones in February, with the Z3 and Z2 first in line. This was fueled by Australia's Vodafone, which posted a press release confirming the roll out. The posts were taken down.

According to International Business Times, there's a delay in the delivery of the new mobile OS because of the bugs found in its source codes. Other Android-based devices are also facing the same dilemma causing a slight delay in the proper rollout.

The report added that Sony is currently primping the update with its minor tweaks and additions before rolling it out to the public. The Japanese OEM manufacturer reportedly began a pilot program in partnership with carrier network Three in Sweden and allowed Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact users to test drive Android 5.0 in their devices.

Sony fans might be disheartened by the slight delay since the software has been around for quite a while and it has not landed on the Sony smartphones yet. However, the company is ensuring to deliver bug-free OS update in the near future.

The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update brings forth major changes to the smartphones since it is one of the biggest Android updates. It delivers an overall new user interface dubbed as Material Design. Moreover, once downloaded, improvements will be seen in the performance, notifications, and security of the handset.
