"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is a film shrouded in mystery as very little is actually known about the film. While the cast list has been made public, the specific roles each actor will take on have been kept under wraps. Zendaya is widely rumored to play Mary Jane Watson, and the actress has now given fans a few details regarding her character.

According to SlashFilm, it seems Zendaya won't be playing Mary Jane Watson, the usual love interest to Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Tom Holland), based on how she described her character. It should be noted her character is called Michelle in the script, although it is stated that the name on the page is likely to hide the real identity from the public.

Zendaya states that her character is not the romantic type. Instead, she has a dry sense of humor, and she is also quite intellectual. The actress further states that her character, whether Mary Jane or not, is smart, to the point of being weird and awkward.

It is further stated that this character is always reading and that she is aware that far ahead, at least, intellectually, compared to other people. This is a very different portrayal of the traditional Mary Jane, who is often seen as a model with average intelligence.

Spider-Man himself is also going to be portrayed differently in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is not going to be punching his opponents even when in the heat of battle. This was done because as a high school kid, Peter's first instinct wouldn't be to punch someone.

"Every decision we make on set is based off how would a kid react in this situation, so every fight scene we have is designed in a way that's almost child-friendly, so he never actually punches anyone. It's all done kind of by accident. I think the biggest difference is his youth and innocence," Tom Holland explained.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is scheduled to premiere on July 7, 2017.

More recently, I’ve enjoyed Christian movies Unsung Hero and Jesus Revolution on limited release in the UK, but it’s rare for such films to make the multiplex chains.
