'Splatoon' latest news: Tower Control now live

 Nintendo website

Starting today, "Splatoon" gamers will be able to get into a new Ranked Battle called Tower Control, which test two teams of four in their abilities to protect and defend their Splatoon brothers and sisters from hostile forces in order to effectively breach the enemy's ground.

The brand new and exciting game mode has players take flight on the tower located at the center of the map and successfully make their way into the opponent's tower without the person on the tower getting knocked out buy enemies.

"Once someone jumps onto the tower, it starts moving along a set path toward the other team's goal. If the tower doesn't arrive at either goal before time runs out, the team that's moved it closest toward their opponent's goal wins. Ride the tower all the way into the other team's goal though, and you'll get a decisive knockout victory," the developers described the new "Splatoon" mode in the game's official Tumblr page.

Tower Control looks to be Nintendo's last strike before the highly-anticipated Splatfest kicks in on Saturday, Jul. 4. Despite a slight delay when it hit Japan with minor issues but eventually organizing a battle to determine the udon master, here in the US, gamers will have to win for their favorite pop or rock band's glory.

While trying out the all new Tower Control and prepping for the massive tournament, "Splatoon" players can also wait for the official availability of a special Team Fortress 2 mod made by a small group of artists and coders with help from a YouTuber gamers named DrLilRobot.

For those who wouldn't mind being able to use one weapon at least at the moment and painting in squares rather than splatters like in the game, they will be able to enjoy the awesomeness of transforming into a squid and taking a nice dip on a puddle of paint.
