The popular games in the "Spyro the Dragon" franchise are getting remastered versions exclusive for a PlayStation 4 release this year, with other platforms following suit after the initial release.

According to Kotaku UK, there have been multiple reports going around that the "Spyro the Dragon Trilogy" remake will be announced in March 2018.

The original Spyro trilogy, which includes "Spyro the Dragon," "Ripto's Rage," and "Year of the Dragon," will come a year after Activision's remastering of the "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy."

Gamespot revealed that the same studio responsible for the remastered release of the "Crash Bandicoot Trilogy" Vicarious Visions will also be the one to lead Spyro's exclusive remastered reboot.

The planned release will include an improved soundtrack, innovated visuals, and other technical enhancements, as seen on the remastered version of "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy."

Kotaku UK divulged that these remastered games under the series will include content not integrated with the original release of the games.

While Activision has not announced any details regarding the release of this planned project, a source informed Kotaku UK that it will be due in September of this year which coincides with "Spyro the Dragon's" 20th anniversary.

In the past, Activision has publicly confirmed that with the overwhelming success of the remastered "Crash Bandicoot Trilogy," releases such as this could be more frequent.

The Spyro games was first released on the PlayStation 1 console about 20 years ago. It was developed by Insomniac Games, which is the same studio behind popular adventure games "Ratchet & Clank," "Resistance," and "Sunset Overdrive."

For those who would like to know, Activision currently has the rights for the Spyro dragon game series. Such is why the game tycoon has been on the forefront of the remake speculations.
