'Star Wars' Episode 8 plot rumors: Boba Fett rumored to be alive in 'The Last Jedi'

Fans of the intimidating "Star Wars" bounty hunter Boba Fett are expecting his return in the latest upcoming movie, "Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi."

For years now, fans and writers alike have been making claims that the tough-as-nails bounty hunter was not eaten or killed by the Sarlacc Pit after being pushed into it by a younger Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" back in 1983. Some evidence was even unearthed by Fett's persistent fandom in the form of an upcoming LEGO set for "Star Wars."

A Reddit user named SiegmeyerofCatarina, suggests that Fett escapes, as is shown in the LEGO set images he uncovered. In the leaked images, Fett is shown shooting his way out of the Sarlacc Pit. Apart from his laser blaster, Fett also had a jetpack, which he used to perform long jumps and leaps with, though the jetpack seemed to have malfunctioned when Solo pushed Fett.

So far, no official word from Lucasfilm has been released yet, so the LEGO set image in question may have been just a tentative artwork and could have meant nothing in particular. Still, the studio itself has not really confirmed or shown Fett dying or being killed after getting pushed into the Sarlacc Pit, which supposedly digests its victims over 1000 years.

Should Fett be alive, as suggested by his hardcore fans, he would then be the same age as Solo in "Episode VII: The Force Awakens," meaning he may still be in business and is looking for potential "dark side of the force" clients. That said, why Fett did not appear in "The Force Awakens" cannot be explained by his fans. They only expect to see him alive and hunting in "The Last Jedi."

Fans remain confident that even if Fett does not appear in the next big "Star Wars" movie this December, he will still have his own standalone spin-off, as there have been talks about this supposedly happening after an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off.

"Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi" will initially arrive on Dec. 15.
