"Star Wars Episode 8" is still a year away, which gives fans an ample time to speculate on what will happen and make sense of the mysteries thrown at them in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Many of the conjectures involve Rey (Daisy Ridley), a scavenger from planet Jakku whose life changes after she meets a droid with a mission named BB-8.

Rey showed exceptional skills in piloting, lightsaber duels, and the use of the Force, which leads many to believe that she is the daughter of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who will teach her the ways of the Force even further in "Star Wars Episode 8."

This will also explain why she seems to have shown a good grasp of these skills in a short amount of time, which left Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) both impressed and intimidated.

YouTuber Mike Zeroh, who is known for his speculations and predictions on all things "Star Wars," claims that "Star Wars Episode 8" will reveal the connection between Rey and Luke.

He also does not believe the speculations that Rey is the granddaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Up to the Jedi master's death, there was no sign of him being romantically linked with anyone.

Then again, "Star Wars" films focus on the story of the Skywalker family, so not much was revealed about Obi-Wan other than his connection to Anakin. "Star Wars Episode 8" is expected to be the same.

At the moment, the only thing certain about Rey is that she was left in Jakku when she was young, and there, she was forced to fend for herself. This also appears to hark back to both the childhood of Luke and Anakin in some way.

Whether or not there is a real connection between Rey and the greatest Jedi and Sith in the galaxy far, far away, fans will learn about it in "Star Wars Episode 8" when it premieres on Dec. 15, 2017.
