Another cast member has been confirmed for Star Wars Episode IX - Keri Russell from the TV shows 'The Americans' and 'Felicity.'

The actress is already familiar with J.J. Abrams as a result of 'Felicity', a show he created with Matt Reeves, and her role in Mission: Impossible III, which he directed back in 2006.

Abrams is writing and directing the next installment of Star Wars and Variety magazine reports that Abrams is in early talks with the star to take on a role that it says will include fight scenes.

This shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Russell given her roles in 'Mission: Impossible III' and 'The Americans.'

The magazine further reported that production is due to begin at the end of July and it's likely that two more cast members will be confirmed before that time to join the current roster that includes returning stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver.

It isn't confirmed yet what character she is playing or the exact nature of the role and whether she's on the side of good or bad.

Mission: Impossible III some 12 years ago is actually the last time Russell worked with Abrams.

She is fresh off of 'The Americans,' which recently wrapped up its sixth and final season. She received critical acclaim for her role as KGB agent Elizabeth Jennings in the show, scooping the Primetime Emmy Award.

Her role in Star Wars is not the only that is a mystery for now as it's not clear yet what the movie director will do with General Leia Organa or Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

Screenrant reports that some of the filming at least will take place England, including Cardington Airship Sheds in Bedfordshire which was a location previously used for 'A New Hope' and 'Rogue One.'
