'Star Wars' news: Poe Dameron dubbed as worse than Jar Jar Binks

Jar Jar Binks in the Galactic Republic council during the prequel trilogy Star Wars

Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) may not be as annoying or as out-of-place as Jar Jar Binks from "The Phantom Menace," but some people seem to think he is worse than the eccentric Gungan outcast.

Andy Golder from Buzzfeed has compared Poe to Jar Jar and came up with the conclusion that the former actually has done more damage than the latter. The list of Poe's failures begins with his initial plan to sabotage the Dreadnought, an imposing First Order orbital gun platform capable of dishing out massive amounts of destruction.

Poe's plans apparently put dozens or even hundreds of lives from the Resistance at risk just to follow through with his dangerous plans. Poe's plan was a failure, and to make matters worse, he actually disobeyed the orders of Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), who was the General of the Resistance fleet and was the highest-ranking member of the faction. This ultimately led to Poe's demotion and a disciplinary slap.

Afterwards, in the movie, all members of the resistance were tasked to place their trust in General Leia in order to keep collateral damage and casualties to a minimum in future missions. Poe, on the other hand, did otherwise and staged a rogue mission which undermined the command of Leia. In doing so, he even put the lives of Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) in danger when he asked them to do a sabotage mission with very low chances of success.

This mutiny by Poe, Finn, and Rose eventually led to more deaths in the Resistance fleet and army. In the end, Poe learned a valuable lesson not to sacrifice the lives of other to just gain glory, something Leia chastised him mildly for despite the magnitude of failure.

Still, lots of Poe fans disagree with Buzz Feed's article where 64 percent voted that Poe is not worse than Jar Jar, who has become iconic for being the most despised character in the "Star Wars" universe despite the numerous amounts of traitors and Sith Lords in the franchise. Apparently, Jar Jar's character was a ridiculous racist caricature, and it would take a lot of bad qualities to top him, something Poe might find hard to achieve.
