In 2017, the developers of "Stardew Valley" announced that the game would be getting a multiplayer mode alongside brand new content and a port for the Nintendo Switch. Fans everywhere were excited, but towards the end of the year, Multiplayer ended up being pushed back to 2018. Since then, updates have been far and in between. However on Jan 15, Concerned Ape, the game's developer tweeted a photo of "Stardew Valley's" upcoming multiplayer mode.

The tweet read: "4-player Stardew Valley LAN party at my house... it's really fun. It still needs some work, but the underlying network code is solid. Being in the same room and yelling at each other about what to do next, or if anyone has any stone, is great fun. Can't wait to share this."

The picture tweeted then depicted Concerned Ape and three other players standing on the farm in front of two houses. The tweet leads to fans asking about whether or not "Stardew Valley's" multiplayer mode would be limited to LAN. Concerned Ape was quick to answer, stating that while LAN would be one option, players would also have the option to join other players online.

Fans on Twitter then went on to express their excitement over the upcoming multiplayer mode.

Aside from multiplayer mode, Concerned Ape tweeted that he had finished working on some additional content for the game as well. What that was, however, was not delved into.

According to PC Gamer, this would include a new mechanic called profession re-spec. There would also be additional NPC events and a new winter event for players to participate in.

"Stardew Valley" first came out in February of 2016. The game was originally compared to Harvest Moon but eventually gained its own popularity. A farming and life simulator, "Stardew Valley" tells the story of a person who inherits their late grandfather's farm. After receiving the farm, they leave the city and start a brand new life in the idyllic town of Stardew Valley.

The game is currently available for purchase on Steam.
