"Stein's Gate: Elite" now has a launch date in Japan. The game was originally slated for Spring 2018, and the most recent updates regarding the game's production mentioned it would reportedly be coming to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and PC on March 15, 2018.
According to Gematsu, the game's publisher 5pb have announced that the game would cost roughly 7,800 yen. The game will reportedly be a full animation adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name that was released for the Xbox 360 years prior to the announcement of "Stein's Gate: Elite."
Entertainment sites such as Silicon Era and Crunchyroll have posted about the game's release dates and have also released footage of the game's new trailer. "Stein's Gate: Elite" will allegedly contain footage from the anime itself. Details regarding the specifics of the brand new game and what it will focus on are currently limited. The trailer itself doesn't give away much. However, it features snippets of what fans can expect to see once the game launches. The characters from the anime are present in the trailer, alongside animation samples, and an overview of what the game might look like when it hits consoles.
"Stein's Gate" was originally a visual novel developed by 5pb and Nitroplus for the Xbox 360 in 2009. It was adapted into a manga in the same year and was illustrated by Sarachi Yomi. The manga received a second series in the same year, and eventually "Stein's Gate" even received its own graphic novel. It wasn't until 2011 that "Stein's Gate" was picked up by White Fox and adapted into an anime that aired between April to September 2011.
The story of "Stein's Gate" follows mad scientist Rintarou Okabe and his fellow lab members. The group creates a "Phone Microwave" that can send emails to the past. This device ends up changing history, and the cast is thrown into a crazy adventure caused by their own invention.
Further details regarding "Stein Gate: Elite's" story have yet to be released.
