Another Stephen King novel may get the live-action adaptation treatment. Fans have been anticipating the movie version of "The Talisman," written by King and Peter Straub. That may soon come to fruition as the planned live-action movie has nabbed a writer.

According to Variety, Amblin Entertainment, who owns the rights to the book adaptation, has tapped director Josh Boone to write the screenplay. Boone directed "The Fault in Our Stars" and wrote and directed the soon-to-be-released "New Mutants."

Boone is no stranger to King's lore. He is also attached to several of the author's other works, specifically as writer and director for the movie adaptations of "The Stand" and "Lisey's Story." He is also writing the screenplay of another King book, "Revival."

Boone also recently served as the executive producer for a short film based on King's short story "My Pretty Pony."

"The Talisman" is about a 12-year-old boy who learns how to travel between dimensions. He takes on a journey to find a magical talisman that can help his dying mother. In his travels, he encounters evil from both worlds.

The novel was successful enough that a second installment was written, called "Black House," and had a comic book version as well. Universal Pictures was the first to buy the rights to make it into a film back in 1984. A longtime collaborator of King, Mick Garris, also had plans to make it into a miniseries like what he did for King's other works.

There's been a noted surge in King's books being adapted into movies or TV shows. "The Dark Tower" and "IT" both came out in theaters in a span of a few months with the latter becoming the highest-grossing R-rated horror film with the most ticket sales of all time. On the TV front, there's "Mr. Mercedes" and "Castle Rock," which will be aired on Hulu.
