Capcom has officially announced that Ed will be the next character to join "Street Fighter 5."

According to IGN, Ed is the third fighter to join the game's season 2. He will be playable for all participants of the next Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) Beta, which will be open from May 11 to 14. The studio has yet to announce an official release date for Ed.

In the trailer from Capcom, fans are given a glimpse at some of Ed's special abilities, including his V-Trigger called Psycho Cannon. This skill creates a ball of energy that slowly heads toward his enemy. Also featured in the clip is his Psycho Snatcher V-Skill, which allows Ed to pull his enemies closer to him. Lastly, the Psycho Barrage Critical Art showcases a flurry of his punches that are further enhanced with Psycho energy.

Raised by Balrog, Ed is known for his fighting style that leans toward boxing. However, he also uses strong kicks unlike his mentor. Having been the subject of M. Bison's experiments, Ed is also capable of channeling Psycho Power, thanks to the genes he shares with the Shadaloo leader.

"What makes Ed especially unique is how players perform his special moves. His special moves have simple inputs; they only require simultaneous button presses, repeatedly pressing a button, or holding down a button. Only Ed's Critical Art is done by inputting a traditional motion," Capcom said in a press release.

To access Ed, players can purchase the Season 2 Character Pass for $29.99.  This will also grant pass holders with Kolin, Akuma, and three brand-new fighters that will be announced later this year. In addition, the pass comes with Premium Battle Costumes for each fighter and an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme.

Developed by Capcom and Dimps, "Street Fighter 5" is exclusively available for PlayStation 4 and PC platforms.
