At the official awarding ceremony of the 2016 Red Bull Battlegrounds tournament held at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, Capcom had quite a surprise for those who were in attendance as they officially unveiled a new character for their highly popular fighting video game, "Street Fighter 5."

The company unveiled a short 28-second teaser trailer that showcased the return of Akuma as downloadable content (DLC) in the brand new installment to the popular "Street Fighter" franchise.

The tournament itself had crowned NuckleDu as the overall champion after having lost 3-1 to Tokido, then regaining his position after a bracket reset with his main fighter, Guile. During the awarding ceremony with Capcom's Yoshinori Ono, the lights suddenly turned off and a video was shown on the venue's screens which revealed Akuma's brand new reveal trailer.

The short trailer showed the evil character performing his signature Shun Goku Satsu final move. The screen was filled with the sounds of kicks and punches behind a black background which then ended with a Japanese Kanji superimposed on Akuma's back who is completing his move.

Players were also quick to spot the change in the Kanji itself, which usually is a symbol for the word "Heaven." This time, however, the Kanji that was shown on Akuma's back was for the word "God."

The change in Akuma's Kanji has been seen by some fans as an indication that the character may be able to transform into his more powerful state called Shin Akuma using his V-Trigger activation.

The end of the video then announced that the brand new addition to the growing roster of playable characters will be playable during the upcoming 2016 PlayStation Experience where the Capcom Cup will be held. The event will be happening on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 inside the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

Capcom has yet to announced when the new character will become available for players via DLC for different gaming systems.
