Nintendo has released a brand new trailer for "Super Mario Run," their first "Mario" game that will launch for mobile devices. This new trailer showcases how the game is played and what kind of different game modes it will have.

As shown in the trailer, the main game mode is very similar to a traditional "Mario" game, where the player must guide Mario from left to right, avoiding obstacles and enemies, to reach a goal or boss fight at the end. However, since this is played on a mobile device with a touchscreen, the game makes Mario run entirely on his own.

With Mario running automatically, the player must tap the screen to make Mario jump. The longer the screen is pressed the higher and longer Mario will jump. Using this mechanic, players can also do a wall jump to get up vertical pathways.

There are areas in each stage that alter how Mario moves. One stage in the trailer shows Mario clinging to the ceiling, and another portion shows Mario stepping on a "Pause" button, momentarily stopping his movement to let a cutscene play out.

"Kingdom Builder" is the second gameplay mode shown, and it lets players customize their own "Mario" world, using items gained in the game. These items can range from warp tunnels to block stairwells and more.

The third and final gameplay mode is the "Toad Rally," allowing players to compete against each other.

According to Game Rant, the competitive multiplayer will be important for those attempting to create a unique Kingdom. This is because items can also be gained by winning the "Toad Rally" races.

"Super Mario Run" will launch for iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad this Dec. 15. Nintendo is offering a free trial, but to fully access the game, it needs to be purchased for $9.99. Nintendo also confirms that this is the only purchase needed as there will not be microtransactions in the game. The game will also launch for Android but not until 2017.
