"Switched at Birth" is about to premiere its fourth season in two months, and fans can expect to see more drama as Bay becomes the center of some difficult and dramatic situations.

Cast member Lea Thompson spoke to E! News about what fans can expect in the upcoming season, and she said that Bay will be dealing with the fallout from her breakup.

"Kathlyn always tries to keep a stiff upper lip and keep everyone moving forward with a lighter touch," said the "Back to the Future" actress. "She's going to move forward with her musical, but she's also going to get hit with a lot of new drama."

Thompson also revealed that John and Kathryn will be facing some financial problems and that this will be really challenging for them.

"They're so used to being able to fix everything and being mama and papa bear, but they can't this time and that's going to be really hard on them," she said.

Meanwhile, John Michael Higgins of "Pitch Perfect 2" and Paula Marshall will guest star in the upcoming season of the ABC series as the parents of Daphne's boyfriend, Mingo. According to Broadway World, Daphne and Mingo will plan for their parents to meet each other, not knowing that they have a history. Higgins and Marshall will appear in the sixth episode of the show, which will be directed by series star D.W. Moffett.

Along with Thompson, who plays Kathryn on the show, are Vanessa Marano as Bay Kennish, Katie Leclerc as Daphne Vasquez, Constance Marie as Regina Vasquez, D.W. Moffett as John Kennish, Luke Grabeel as Toby Kennish, Sean Berdy as Emmett Bledsoe and guest star Marlee Matlin as Melody Bledsoe.

"Switched at Birth" premieres its fourth season on Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
