Fans need to prepare for a season of mixed emotions when ABC's teen/family drama series "Switched at Birth" returns his summer.

Creator Lizzy Weiss took to Twitter on Friday to give a teaser about the upcoming season finale that will air August 24. Although she did not mention specific details regarding the plot and characters, Weiss did point out how viewers would probably feel about show.

"The very last scene of the season that we are shooting will make a lot of people mad. And a lot of people happy. And so it goes," she wrote.

Recent reports reveal that the newest installment will be full of "heartbreak" and "hard times." Last season, Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Emmett (Sean Berdy) have broken up, and according to Lea Thomspon, who plays Bay's legal mother Kathryn, the separation will have "a deep effect" on her.

The actress shared with E! News Spoiler Chat how her character will help Bay to deal with what was happening and how she will struggle to find a balance between college and a new love.

"With Bay dealing with the fallout from her breakup, Kathryn always tries to keep a stiff upper lip and keep everyone moving forward with a lighter touch. She's going to move forward with her musical, but she's also going to get hit with a lot new drama."

Thompson gave hints that The Kennishes will be facing a big hurdle in the upcoming season.

"There's going to be big financial problems with John and Kathryn and that's going to be really challenging. They're so used to being able to fix everything and being the mama and papa bear, but they can't this time and that's going to be really hard on them."

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that the family will also be rocked by news of unexpected pregnancy. Whether it is Bay's or Daphne's  (Katie Leclerc), only ABC knows for sure.

For now, Weiss got the last words, saying that the season finale will be "one of the most compelling and controversial stories coming up."

"Switched at Birth" returns to ABC Family on August 24 at 8 p.m.
