'Tekken 7' release date: Game to be announced at Tokyo Game Show?

"Tekken 7" Bandai Namco

This year's Tokyo Game Show is already expected to be quite the source of gigantic news within the video game industry, and the rumor mill is already providing a preview of what fans can supposedly expect.

According to Gamenguide, one of the games slated to be announced at this year's Tokyo Game Show will be "Tekken 7."

As fans of the popular fighting game franchise will note, the game is actually already available in Japan. The arcade version of "Tekken 7" was released in Japan back in February of this year, although the game has thus far been limited to that.

This time around, Bandai is expected to announce that "Tekken 7" will finally be available for both PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One.

Katsuhiro Harada, the "Tekken" franchise's director and chief producer, is expected to be the one to make the announcement at Tokyo Game Show.

Any title from the "Tekken" series is always a big deal for Bandai and that is probably why Harada is also asking for fan input to ensure that their newest release will be a highly successful one. Harada is already asking fans about their experiences trying out the arcade version of "Tekken 7." He also wants to know if there are bugs currently in the game that they would need to iron out in order to prepare it properly for its console debut.

"Tekken 7" would be ninth entry of the franchise, according to Bidness ETC.

The upcoming game is also expected to give fans a different look at the series as it will be the first title from the "Tekken" franchise that will be making use of the Unreal Engine.

As of now, Bandai Namco is only expected to announce "Tekken 7" for PS4 and Xbox One, although there is reportedly a chance that the game could eventually be coming to personal computers (PCs).
