Alison (Ruth Wilson) will be in a bad place in the upcoming installment of the Showtime series "The Affair," following the revelations regarding her child's paternity and her involvement in Scotty's (Colin Donnell) death.

During the midseason finale, Alison finally told her fiancé, Noah (Dominic West), that the beautiful girl he so loved might not be his. She could not tell who Joanie's father is among him, Cole (Joshua Jackson), and Scotty. Devastated, Noah sought comfort from his ex-wife Helen (Maura Tierney). They planned to leave Cole's wedding together. Unfortunately, they met an accident along the way.

Their car hit a drunk Scotty, killing him instantly. When Noah looked around the road, he saw Alison hiding in the bushes. She said she pushed Scotty toward the road when he tried to rape her. Noah told her to be quiet, then proceeded to admit during the court hearing that he should be blamed for the accident. Alison kept her silence, but her guilt must be eating her inside.

Now that Noah is facing prison time and on the brink of a reunion with Helen, Alison will find herself not knowing where to go. She just lost her fiancé, and she certainly cannot go back to her former husband Cole. He is already married to Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and has since moved on from her. Scotty, her secret lover, is already dead. Nobody is left for her, except perhaps her daughter. If either Noah or Cole can prove that the baby is his, then she stands to lose her too.

Meanwhile, Tierney said that the upcoming season would be "exciting." Variety reports that the actress mentioned that the show will "change" next season, and that the change has something to so with the narrative structure of the series. Currently, it is being chronicled by four persons.

"The Affair" Season 3 will premiere sometime in 2016 on Showtime.
