"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 reaches the finish line with an episode titled "The Convergence-Convergence," which features Leonard and Penny's redo wedding for friends and family.
Penny decided to do a second wedding so that her husband's mom Beverly can attend. During her visit in episode 23 of "The Big Bang Theory" season 9, Beverly opened up about not getting invited to her own son's wedding.
She also admitted that she was wrong to think that Penny and Leonard should not be together. She can see now that her son is happy with Penny, who let out a big "wow" after Beverly's confession.
Although "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 finale has Penny and Leonard's big day at its core, the crazy happenings behind the scenes will be of greater focus.
[Spoiler Alert! Plot details about "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 finale ahead]
Leonard's mom was looking forward to the event, until she learned at the last minute about an unexpected visitor she does not look forward to seeing -- Leonard's dad Alfred.
This marks Leonard's father's debut in "The Big Bang Theory," and the character will be played by Judd Hirsch. The character will also not be happy to see his ex-wife.
Unfortunately for their son, the two can never set their differences aside even if it's his big day, and they start calling each other names.
In turn, Penny and Leonard attempt to make them at least civil with each other even just for the day. It remains to be seen if they will ever pacify the two in "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 finale, but it will absolutely be a big challenge for them.
Things further spiral out of control when Sheldon's religious mother Mary arrives after her son invited her without even telling the bride and groom. Having Beverly, Alfred and Mary under the same roof will definitely be chaotic. This is because Mary also hates Beverly as much as Alfred hates her. Sheldon's mom and Alfred's dad learn of their mutual dislike towards Beverly, which brings them closer together during the wedding.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 finale will air May 12 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
