Creator of the comic book series "The Crow" James O'Barr recently revealed that he has an unused pitch meant for the second installment of the film adaptation that came out in 1994.

"The Crow" is considered one of the most iconic comic books to be adapted into film in the 90s. It's gothic visuals, action scenes and believable performance by its lead star Brandon Lee who died while shooting the film.

For the sequel, O'Barr toyed with the idea of "The Crow" as a woman. The graphic artist has recently revealed the never-before-seen pitch for the film's sequel and explained why it didn't go through.

At Los Angeles Comic Con 2017, the comic creator explained that his initial idea came from a news clip about a woman who was murdered during her wedding when a gunfight between cops and gangsters started.

"That story always stuck with me and that day is supposed to be the happiest day in someone's life and it couldn't get more tragic than that. So my idea was 'Okay, what if I take that scenario and call it 'The Crow: The Bride?' and she comes back. It was super cool, she's still wearing her wedding dress with barb wire and nails in her head," O'Barr said.

Despite the promising premise, O'Barr discovered that Miramax, the movie studio that produced the first film, was not keen on a gender-flipped sequel. Aside from that, O'Barr noted that his idea for the sequel had similarities with "Kill Bill" which Miramax financed years after his pitch.

Nevertheless, "The Crow" became a film franchise, spawning three installments, a TV show and even a video game.

But fans will be thrilled with the news that O'Barr is heavily involved with the upcoming remake of "The Crow." After years of getting pushed back, the movie will be going ahead as pre-production is set to start by next year with Corin Hardy directing and Jason Momoa playing the title role.
