Bethesda Softworks is not currently working on "The Elder Scrolls VI," the official follow-up to "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," but lead developer Todd Howard and marketing executive Pete Hines have stated in the past that the game will be made someday. New rumors suggest that it will indeed launch but not until 2019.
According to iTech Post, the company is still working on two other big IPs that they will prioritize first. Given that the company just launched "Fallout 4," it is widely rumored that the two new games are new IPs and are not related in any way to the previous series of games that Bethesda has launched.
This is based on a statement Howard made back in June, as noted by Kotaku, in which he said "And we actually have two other large projects we're also doing that are bigger than anything we've done. People will probably hear about those probably even before 'Elder Scrolls VI.' And that'll make sense many years from now."
Fans should also take note that "Fallout 4" had been in development for a long time, but the developers did not make any announcement or release any teaser until six months prior to its launch. This indicates that it will be a long time until "The Elder Scrolls VI" is announced, and when it is showcased, it is likely to be released just a few months after.
iTech Post also points out that the game is also likely going to be VR compatible given that the company has expressed their interest in the technology. "The Elder Scrolls VI" was not specifically mentioned, but given that the game is primarily played in first-person, it is possible that it will integrate the technology seamlessly.
No official announcement regarding "The Elder Scrolls VI" has been made, and any release date that is reported should still be taken as pure speculation.
