"The Last of Us 2" has taken the gaming world by storm after releasing a trailer that shows a slightly different take on the game compared to its prequel, "The Last of Us." While it may be different, the trailer shows that it will still be a dark story with a possible religious cult as the new enemies, knowing when will it arrive is the only question.

Naughty Dog's triple-A title was vastly considered as a masterpiece after its first installment was released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The same game was later remastered for fourth generation consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It has since established millions of fans, which is why the delayed game is stirring up a lot of speculations.

Not much has changed since Naughty Dog released the second trailer in October. What is known about the plot is relatively unclear, except for that fact that there could potentially be a lot more conflict between humans as opposed to the "Infected," and that the setting could be in the past, well before Ellie and Joel's time.

In the second trailer, four new characters were introduced, with three being named. Siblings Lev and Yara were shown to be hunted down by the now-deceased Emily. The dead hunter appears to be a leader of a religious faction, as she called the two as "apostates," also mentioning that "they have greatly sinned."

Whether or not the events of the second trailer happened in the past or present remains to be seen. But, there are speculations that the unnamed woman who helped Yara and Lev kill Emily could be related to Ellie, as she closely resembles the now young adult, who made a debut in the first trailer.

Other implications to look after is the departure of director Bruce Straley, which could be the reason why the game has been delayed. Although Straley is gone, his co-director Neil Druckmann is still the man-in-charge, which could imply that fans will get a similar experience.

"The Last of Us 2" is rumored to come out this 2018, but there are speculations that it may be released as far back as 2019.
