"The Originals" season 4 hasn't even begun yet, and the internet is already afire with news that The CW is thinking of cancelling the show.

Among the reasons that lead fans to speculate the end for the Mikaelsons is the confirmation that the network ordered only 13 episodes for season 4, which is only half of a regular season order of 22 episodes.

In an interview with main cast member Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley Marshall-Kenner) — who is now the only remaining female original cast member of the show — the actress explained that the reduced number of episodes is due to the fact that the show's story is now more condensed. She also confirmed a five-year time jump in which viewers will be able to see Hayley and Klaus's daughter Hope as a seven-year old child who is also coming into her own abilities.

"I think now that she is seven, she is her own character. She's got her own storylines. She's got her own interests and her own maybe, as I said, dark side to her. I think she's a very powerful witch. She may be a bit of an ally to Freya (Riley Voelkel). She may be able to help Freya with witchcraft and things like that. So, yeah, it's going to be really interesting," she said.

In another interview with Joseph Morgan — who plays Klaus Mikaelson in the series — he confirmed that Klaus' daughter could either be his salvation or destruction.

According to The Vampire Diaries website, the actress who will be portraying Hope is Summer Fontana, whose acting credits include stints in Auntie, Basic Witches, and The Seers, which means she's not exactly a newcomer to the supernatural genre.

It has been reported that Hope will allegedly play a key role in finding the seven werewolf packs and become instrumental in breaking out the Mikaelsons from captivity.

The CW has yet to announce the official premiere date of season 4 of "The Originals."
