'The Walking Dead' season 8 episode 4: Robert Kirkman teases radioactive Shiva

Another tragic death of a beloved character in AMC's post-apocalyptic series "The Walking Dead" had just happened during the latest episode titled "Some Guy," which aired on Sunday, Nov. 9.

Shiva, King Ezekiel's (Khary Payton) tiger, is dead. The episode, written by David Leslie Johnson and directed by Dan Liu, saw Shiva as he sacrificed himself to protect his master, Carol (Melissa McBride), and Jerry (Cooper Andrews).

"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman, in an interview with the "Talking Dead," revealed that the death of Shiva should become a huge part of Ezekiel and the gang.

"But Shiva, you know, somebody that has protected him, that he's protected, they've got a great relationship. It's a big loss. It's a big loss for him, it's a big loss for everyone. I'm upset too, man. I like tigers," the creator said.

However, when show's host asked about the possibility of having Shiva reincarnated as a radioactive tiger, the creator teased, "Who says it's not happening?"

"The Walking Dead" series had not been completely faithful to its source material, but it had always tried its best to follow whatever the fate of the characters will be, as seen in Eric's (Jordan Woods-Robinson) death in episode 3, titled "Monsters."

Eric's death in the comics had him dying in an instant as he was shot in the head. But, in the show, Eric died silently and slowly of a gunshot wound under a tree, where he was left by his boyfriend Aaron (Ross Marquand).

In the case of the show's favorite feline, Shiva died both in the comics and in the series. So, fans have had advance warning of the death, but it remains a heartbreaking event, especially for Ezekiel.

"The Walking Dead" airs on Sundays, at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
