'The Winds of Winter' production, plot rumors: George R.R. Martin to release two books at same time; already proofreading book six

HBO's award winning series "Game of Thrones" owes a lot of its fame and success from the brains of the epic story — author George R.R. Martin. This being said, fans of both the books and the series are looking to Martin on updates on how production of the latest installment "The Winds of Winter" is going.

Rumors have been circulating that Martin may already be in the process of proofreading, explaining why it has been taking so long for it to be released, Aussie Network News reports. It has been quite a while since an update has been announced, and fans are thrilled to see how the newest installment would bring color, or in this series' case blood, to the story.

Last January, Martin explained in his blog post that he just wasn't done yet, and that the writing is not coming as well as he wanted it to be. Martin said that he does a lot of rewriting and sometimes major restructuring to his work if he feels like it. He doesn't want to rush things, as is also understood by his former assistant, Ty Franck.

Franck explained to Light Speed Magazine that Martin works at his own pace. He mentioned he is the type that would sit down in front of his computer, write when inspiration strikes, and edit it however he feels he needs to. "He's clearly one of the top writers in the field, but how you get to putting words on paper — sort of the pre-production process — he and I work very differently," Franck adds.

Another possible reason why production for "The Winds of Winter" is slow is probably because Martin aims to release the book along with the succeeding one, "A Dream of Spring." If this is the case, it would be a treat for fans who await patiently for the finished product.

When it comes to the plot itself, it seems as if true followers of Martin have already embodied his way of thinking. Some fans think that Danaerys may or may not ascend the Iron Throne, but either way, the dragons will not survive, iDigital Times speculates. As powerful as they are, the death of the dragons would show how big of a struggle the coming war is, not with the other nations, but with the whitewalkers and the Night King.
