'Titanfall 2' news and update: Game now offered at half price due to underwhelming sales performance

"Titanfall 2" is now available at half price. This is not because EA, the game publisher, wants to give something back to the fans; rather, the sales are so bad that the company is now offering it at a heavily discounted price. With the situation at hand, it remains unclear if there will be "Titanfall 3."

The recently launched first-person shooter video game that was developed by Respawn Entertainment is suffering from a great sales downfall. On the Xbox store, a Live Gold member can now grab a digital copy of the Standard Edition for $35.99, from the original price of $59.99, while the Deluxe Edition is now priced at $47.99, from the previous $79.99. The Battlefield 1–Titan 2 bundle pack is down to $75.00 from $149.00. Gamers on the PC platform can get a better deal from EA's own Origin Store. An additional 20 percent discount could be availed by using the TITAN 20 code, which brings the price of the standard version down to $32.99. This is technically more than half of its original price. The code can also be used for the Deluxe Edition.

The report also mentioned that scenario was predicted to likely happen even before the game was launched last Oct. 28. Research firm Cowen and Company mentioned that the game might have a hard time competing with other games because of the timing. The other games in question are also from EA, namely "Battlefield 1" and "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare."

Meanwhile, Glixel had the chance to talk to Vince Zampella, Respawn's CEO. Zampella was asked about the future of the "Titanfall" series. He said the studio is happy with all the positive reviews that the latest game has gained, and they will be more than happy to "tell more of the story and the universe." He also added, "Sales, it's too early to tell."

It seems that they are already dodging questions about sales, and what will happen to the series now remains unclear. Even if many new purchases were made with the markdown price, the company will not be able to recuperate. There is also no additional revenue in the form of DLCs since the company has announced that post-launch maps and modes are going to be available for free.

"Titanfall 2" is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
