The South Korean zombie movie "Train to Busan" instantly became a blockbuster hit in both Asian and Pacific regions because of its intense and unique storyline coupled with a South Korean flair. Because of the South Korean movie's success, the "Train to Busan" film will now be followed by a sequel that will probably hit the big screen just before 2017 comes to an end.

"Train to Busan" tells the story of a father (Gong Yoo) and daughter (Kim Soo-Ahn) that are trying to make their way out to of the city to reunite with the child's mother. However, along the way the main characters find themselves facing what seems to be a fast spreading zombie invasion with an unknown cause.

Per the movie's name, the film was set in South Korea's KTX (Korean high speed train) that is bound for the city of Busan. The film features a thrilling and dramatic plot that had its viewers hanging on the edge of their seats.

The film's success has garnered approximately $99 million USD, making it the highest-grossing South Korean film. Because of the film's success, Hollywood film makers were planning on creating a Hollywood remake. However, rumors suggest that in lieu of a remake, Hollywood film makers are opting for "Train to Busan 2" instead.

As of now, there is still no confirmation from "Train to Busan's" director and International Fantastic Film Festival award winner Yeon Sang-Ho regarding the film's upcoming sequel.

But certain rumors suggest that "Descendants of the Sun" star Song Joong Ki might be included in the "Train to Busan 2" cast as a doctor that could provide a cure to the virus that caused the South Korean zombie outbreak.

On another note, one report has shown that Fox and Sony are involved in a bidding war for the rights to produce a "Train to Busan 2" film, which could mean that the previous cast might not be included in the upcoming sequel.

As of now, "Train to Busan 2" is rumored to be in its writing stage, and is speculated to come to the big screen in late 2017.
