A new patch is coming out soon for "Tribes: Ascend," and it's been a long time coming.

The new patch that is scheduled to be released for the game will be the first one "Tribes: Ascend" has received in more than two years.

Initially, "Tribes: Ascend" developer, Hi-Rez Studios, indicated that the game would be shelved for about six months so that the team could focus more on "Smite," according to PC Gamer. Hi-Rez Studios made this announcement back in 2013, meaning it has been more than two years without "Tribes: Ascend" getting an actual update, but that wait will soon be coming to an end.

As for what the patch itself contains, the game's Creative Director Sean McBride shared some of what fans can expect from the latest update in a Google Doc.

Among the most notable changes coming to "Tribes: Ascend" is the tweak being made to the class system that already exists in the game.

Previously, the game featured nine different classes, but upon the arrival of the update, that number will be reduced to three, giving players three core options to choose from. The three classes that will remain will be Light, Medium, and Heavy. Each class will now have nine loadouts that can be customized. The Medium class will be able to carry three different weapons while the Heavy type will be able to do one better at four weapons on hand.

The weapons inside "Tribes: Ascend" will also be changed upon the arrival of the new update. Instead of being divvied up into being primary and secondary weapons, they will instead be grouped into other designations such as sniper rifles, shotguns, rockets, and launchers, according to Gamespot.

A new map will also be added to "Tribes: Ascend." The new map will be known as Terminus, although no additional details about what is inside the new location have been revealed.

The changes will first be released by the game's developer via a public test server. The public test server will be launched on Sept. 14.
