Laptops do not necessarily combine work and games together. Laptops for work are usually thin and light while still being fast enough for work needs. Gaming laptops, on the other hand, are more often than not bulky and heavy. However, gamers can now easily get both with Sonnet's eGFX Breakaway Puck equipped with Radeon RX graphics.

Ultrabooks are usually the go-to option when buying a laptop for work. Given its portability, it is easy to pack and bring anywhere work is needed. To match its portability is the Breakaway Puck. This is a great option for people who move around a lot and are still be able to play their favorite games.

While generally, gamers can boost the graphics performance of their ultrabooks and slow laptops with an external graphics enclosure, it tends to be heavy and thus not exactly portable. Gamers would then be better off getting a new PC if they will just be staying at home anyway.

"When GPU acceleration is needed on the road, users can conveniently pack an eGFX Breakaway Puck along with a notebook in a backpack or computer bag," Sonnet explains, adding, "The Puck connects to a computer with a single Thunderbolt 3 cable and, for added convenience, also provides 45W of Power Delivery to power and charge the computer, enabling many users to leave their computer's power brick behind".

The Breakaway Puck can come with either a Radeon RX 560 or RX 570. Both models are five inches wide, 5.1 inches deep, and two inches tall. It has a Thunderbolt 3 port, three DisplayPorts and one HDMI Port. When needed on multiple monitors, either Puck can support 4K displays. Note that both models are the mobile versions and not the desktop iterations. Nevertheless, they are still powerful enough to play most of the latest games.

The model with the RX 560 graphics processing unit (GPU) costs $449 while the RX 570 GPU is priced at $559. The company also offers an optional Mounting Bracket Kit for $59. Both the kit and the Breakaway Pucks are now available.
