In recent games between the USA and Jamaica things have been extremely tight, so fans can expect a close encounter in this semi final.

In 2012, Jamaica outplayed the United States in a famous 2-1 win, with the USA getting an early Clint Dempsey goal, before Jamaica got in their stride and completely dominated the United States.

Days after that result though, the USA gained a win over Jamaica with a Herculez Gomez free kick, although the result looked in serious question over the final half hour of the game as Jamaica pushed the USA all the way.

A year after that, the USA managed to win two games against Jamaica, a 2-1 win in June, and a 2-0 win in October.

The USA will undoubtedly be the big favorites here, but you cannot write off Jamaica given the way they've come through in this tournament so far.

Jurgen Klinsmann's team will definitely want to come out and dictate the game, and not allow Jamaica to take the game to them. Through the group games, USA sat back far too much against Honduras, Haiti and Panama, allowing them to dictate the pace of the game to them. Ultimately the USA had too much class and still won through, but at this stage of the competition they will not want to let opposition teams set the tone and create too many chances.

They were able to let loose against Cuba in the quarter finals, but demolishing a team in as much chaos as Cuba's is not much to boast about.

Jamaica meanwhile managed to claim a solid 1-0 win over Haiti in their quarter final match up. In this tournament so far they've also managed to obtain a surprise 2-2 draw against Costa Rica, defeat Canada and El Salvador 1-0.

So they have been good at grinding out results so far in this tournament, and Costa Rica - one of the best teams at this year's Gold Cup - have been the only team so far to have been able to break down their defense.

The USA have more firepower up front than Costa Rica though, and should feel confident that they can find a way through the strong Jamaica defense and set up a Gold Cup Final against either Mexico or Panama.
