Another important member of the Utah Jazz roster will be missing action this 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season as guard Alec Burks sustained a fractured fibula in his left leg during Saturday's defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Burks is one of Utah's scoring threats this season, but the injury will likely keep him out of action for a while.

According to ESPN, Burks had a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) last Sunday that revealed the injury.

Now, the 24-year-old will be joining starters center Rudy Gobert (medial collateral ligament sprain) and point guard Dante Exum (torn anterior cruciate ligament), Jazz players who are sidelined due to injury, ESPN also reported.

In 28 games played this season including three starts, Burks is averaging a career-best in scoring with 14.3 points a game, also tallying 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.1 minutes played per outing.

Burks is an offensive spark off the bench for Utah, which will now continue its campaign without knowing when he can come back since there was no timetable provided for his return.

However, ESPN added in its report that Burks will not be needing surgery for the broken fibula.

Expected to pick up the minutes that Burks will be missing are fellow shooting guards starter Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles, Elijah Millsap, and Chris Johnson.

The Jazz are one of the young teams in the NBA this 2015–16 season and are slowly showing they are contenders, currently sitting on the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings with a 13–16 record.

Utah is coming off a tight victory over the hapless Philadelphia 76ers who are the last team in the league with a 2–31 record, with the game also being the first that Burks missed this season.

Next for the Jazz is a Western Conference clash against another young team in the Minnesota Timberwolves this Wednesday.
