'The Vikings' are back to raid the television screens as they set out on their third season on Thursday, Feb 19 on the History Channel. The new season reunites viewers with their favorite characters and also introduces some new interesting faces that are bound to change the tides and take the plot forward in an unexpected direction. The creator of the hit series, Michael Hirst seems confident about being able to take his audience on an enchanted journey that is filled with passion and hard hitting action.

One of the new characters that make an entrance through the third season is the mysterious Harbard. This intriguing role is played by Kevin Durand who stars in the popular series, "Strain." During a press conference call, Durand stated that there was an element of mysticism in his character. Before Harbard actually enters Kattegat, viewers will be introduced to him through enchanted dreams seen by Queen Aslaug, Siggy, and Helga. In all of their dreams, Habbard is seen to be wandering into Kattegat with scalding blood dripping from his hand.

One of the elements that lend Habbard his mystic aura is his strange healing power. In the press conference, Durand added that the character would have a profound impact on the lives of the other main characters in the series and that it would be in the fourth episode that this impact is most pronounced.

The third season also holds in store one of the most highly anticipated events, which is the raid on the city of Paris. Michael Hirst, the creator of the series was talking to "Entertainment Tonight" on the third season and explained that the new king of Denmark will be taken aback by the level of difficulty involved in breaking through Paris's defense. Even though Ragnar and his brave and experienced soldiers easily met with success in conquering parts of Great Britain during the past two seasons, Paris seems to be a different story altogether as it goes to the extent of creating divisions among Ragnar's men. Will they be successful in their conquest? Fans will have to wait and watch to find out.
