Want to Know Top Hollywood Celebrities Who Are Pro-Life? Here They Are and Here's What They Say

Pro-life Hollywood celebrities include (from left, clockwise) Celine Dion, Martin Sheen, Jack Nicholson, Jim Caviezel, Mel Gibson, and Chuck Norris. (Wikipedia)

The issue of abortion has split Hollywood into two camps—one pro, one against. Last year, mainstream media reported many top Hollywood stars coming out in support of Planned Parenthood, an organisation that provides reproductive health services to women, including abortion, throughout the U.S.

Not as well publicised were the names and views of Hollywood celebrities who oppose the killing of unborn babies. Some of them are listed below, including what they have said on the issue, as gathered by God Reports.

Celine Dion: This French-Canadian singer said she would not have been born had not a priest convinced her mother not to terminate her pregnancy at the last minute.

Dion said her mother then already had 13 children and was considering terminating her 14th pregnancy. Fortunately, she decided to consult a priest first before proceeding to the abortion clinic.

"The priest told her that she had no right to go against nature," Dion said. "So I have to admit that in a way, I owe my life to that priest."

Martin Sheen: Although he's a Democrat, this veteran actor strongly opposes abortion. This is because his wife, who was conceived from rape, was almost aborted. Sheen said he opposes anything that requires people to be sacrificed for some "end justifying a means."

Jack Nicholson: This Academy Award-winning actor was also nearly aborted by his teenage mom, which he said explains why he strongly opposes killing foetuses in the womb.

"I'm very contra my constituency in terms of abortion because I'm positively against it," he said. "I don't have the right to any other view. My only emotion is gratitude, literally, for my life."

Chuck Norris: This actor and martial artist has long been a pro-life advocate. "We need to get back to a view of humanity that emphasises the immortal worth of every human being," the black belter once said. "The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government."

Mel Gibson: For this talented actor and director, man can only accept what God wants. "God is the only one who knows how many children we should have, and we should be ready to accept them," he said. "One can't decide for oneself who comes into this world and who doesn't. That decision doesn't belong to us."

Jim Caviezel: The actor who plays Jesus in "The Passion of the Christ" called abortion a "great sin" as he slammed the arrogance of Americans who try to use euphemisms in describing the 51 million or so abortions in the U.S.

"I am for helping woman, I just do not see abortion as helping woman," he said. "And I don't love my career that much to say, 'I'm going to remain silent on this.'"
