What makes Christianity better than other religions?

A quick search on the internet reveals that if the word "religion" is defined as a "cultural system" that adheres to certain belief systems and have specific world views, there are about 4,200 religions all over the world today.

That's a huge number.

Among the 4,200 religions, a significant number identifies as "Christian," although many, if not all of them, are mere sects.

That said, why should we think that Christianity is the best among all of these religions?

It's actually very simple.

It's because what we believe in Christianity -- God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, the death of Christ and His resurrection -- is true.

How can it be true?

Many people just can't believe that what the Bible says is true.

They can't believe than an infinitely powerful and complete Being would simply exist when nothing existed and that this Being would create everything simply by speaking.

They can't believe that this Being would allow man to commit sin, that this Being would punish sin eternally, and that this Being is still wholly loving despite that.

They can't believe such a good Being would allow unpleasant things to happen to mankind, that this Being would punish mankind even if he tried to be good, and that the only way for mankind to be spared from this punishment would be through the death of this Being's only begotten Son.

They can't believe that this "angry" Being would pour out His wrath on His own Son so that sinful can be forgiven of their sins, and that the only way for man's sin to be forgiven is to believe in the Son and have faith in Him.

They can't believe that this Being's gift of salvation is free for all men, paid for by the blood of His Son on a cross He did not actually deserve to be nailed to.

They simply can't believe that this Being, God, could love them even when they're sinners and cannot do anything to save themselves and be forgiven.

This is grace.

God's grace is what makes Christianity better than other faiths.

  • The fact that we did not deserve God's love yet He loved us still.
  • The fact that we deserved death for our sins but Christ died in our place instead.
  • The fact that we cannot work for God's forgiveness, but only receive it by faith in Christ.
  • The fact that we were slaves to sin but Christ freed us to be His own people.
  • The fact that we are nothing, but God loved us so much.
  • The fact that God is supreme above all, and is merciful towards us.

Truth be told, this is the only faith where a totally depraved human is loved by a perfect God, and can find forgiveness, hope, restoration, and a new life in Him.

This is the only faith where God came down to earth as a human to save sinful man from sin.

This is the only faith where the Person who is worshipped died and lived again, and is now sitting above everything that is named:

"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:5-11)

Lastly, this is the only faith where God above has a relationship with His people, a Father to His children.
