While Justin Bieber is on his religious retreat, Selena Gomez is also spending time in the Bible

Pop singer and actress Selena Gomez recently shared a photo of herself in a serene location with a Bible in her lap.

It appears the 22-year-old is taking some time for her spiritual health while ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber is on a spiritual retreat of his own.

Gomez's photo shows notes in the margin of her Bible, and highlighted passages. Trees, mountains, pillows, and a teepee decorate her tranquil surroundings.

The day before Gomez posted her photo, the Biebs was photographed in Rancho Mirage, California. Bieber is reportedly abstaining from alcohol, drugs, and partying for two weeks while on a retreat with Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz.

The pop star was spotted with Lentz's book "Occupy All Streets", which encourages readers to spread the gospel and resist temptation.

In a recent interview, Lentz admitted that he is trying to help the 20-year-old, but said the singer will weed out negative influences in his entourage on his own.

"He's on a journey, if he's not doing good, should we abandon him?" he asked the New York Post.

"I think relationships in your life come and go. And I think what defines you is how you gauge who needs to stay and who needs to go.

"When he's with me, he rolls with me," the 36-year-old explained. "He's like a member of our team... He fits in like a piece of furniture."

While Bieber frequently attends Lentz's services, and also spends leisure time with Lentz and his family, Pastor Carl stopped short of classifying himself as a mentor or life coach for the singer.

"I have a special role in Justin's life, spiritually, but... I'm not a life-motivational guy," he said. "We're talking about making sure his life remains a blessing, not a burden."

More recently, I’ve enjoyed Christian movies Unsung Hero and Jesus Revolution on limited release in the UK, but it’s rare for such films to make the multiplex chains.
