Windows 10 news: Insider Preview Build 14328 rolled out for PC and Mobile, includes Windows Ink and updated Start

Windows 10 updated Start menu on Build 14328 Microsoft

Microsoft has freshly released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14328 for both PC and mobile users, but only for members of the Fast ring. PC users will be experiencing new things through the latest build while mobile users will notice only minor changes since Build 14327 brought in the major features.

Gabe Aul, Micrososoft's Corporate Vice President, made the usual announcement on his regular blog post.

Aul said, "Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14328 for both PC and Mobile to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. This build is just one build newer than the Mobile build we released on Wednesday so there isn't a lot new for Mobile."

He also mentioned, "For PC though this is a MAJOR build, packed with lots of new features and improvements including Windows Ink, updated Start, and more! With the amount of code change in this build there are going to be some rough edges, some of which are called out in the known issues below. If any of those make you uncomfortable, you may want to consider switching to the Slow ring and waiting for a later build which has a bit more stabilization on these new features. We're very excited for you to try them out and tell us what you think."

Several new toys for the PC are included with Build 14328: Windows Ink, Calendar integration, Taskbar enhancements, multiple playback devices and several more.

Windows Ink was announced during the company's Build Conference 2016 and was only introduced on this build. The app basically allow Windows 10 users to use a digital pen (or finger) to sketch, write notes, create doodles and draw all over the screen. The update adds a Windows Ink Workspace, which includes sketchpad, sticky notes, screen sketch, and other pen-enabled applications.

The Start button experience has also been redesigned to give more information at a glance. The most-used apps list and All apps list have been merged into one. Power, Settings and File Explorer can be accessed immediately since they are now always shown on the Start screen. Users who opt to add folders for immediate access will also appreciate this new design, since there is no need to access the hamburger button to gain access to the additional folder or folders.

Additionally, Taskbar clock is now visible in the Calendar app, and there is no need to go back and forth just to double-check the time. The Taskbar clock is also available on all monitors, not just the primary one, when set appropriately. Multiple playback devices can also be managed within the Taskbar, where the volume flyout has been integrated.

Email addresses is not displayed on the Lock screen anymore, for privacy concerns, while media controls are now accessible even on a locked device. The album art and song title are also displayed. This slashes off a few step when one needs to pause the media playing in the background.

There are several more improvements included to the Preview Build 142328. PC bug fixes were also included.
