World Evangelical Alliance Welcomes Micah Network as New Global Partner

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has warmly welcomed the Micah network as its newest Global Partner. The relationship between the two organisations was started two years ago with the joint launch of the Micah Challenge, an initiative to rally for the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Geoff Tunnicliffe, the International Director for the World Evangelical Alliance said, "We are very happy to announce that Micah Network has joined WEA as its newest Global Partner. It is our hope this new partnership will facilitate greater coordination and integration of relief and development work in our network of three million churches around the world."

Global Partner membership is given to international organisations that specialise in a field which contributes to the WEA's mission and objectives, the WEA has told Christian Today. There are currently seven other Global Partners serving the WEA constituency.

The Micah Network comprises of almost 300 Christian relief, development and justice organisations that "work together to meet the needs of the poor and oppressed, aim the mission of the church, and advocate Biblical values to leaders and decision makers around the world".

Steve Bradbury, chair of the Micah Network, has expressed hope that both organisations would greatly benefit from the partnership.

"We thank you for your invitation to be a global partner of WEA and have pleasure in accepting it," said Bradbury. "It is my heartfelt prayer that God will bless the Micah Network/WEA relationship, and use it to enhance our capacities to serve him."

"We already have one very significant joint initiative, the Micah Challenge," he said, referring to the joint campaign to mobilise Christians against poverty.

"We look forward to praying and working with you to grow its impact at global, regional and national levels."
