Last May, Xianz.com, a Christian version of MySpace.com was launched, inviting thousands of Christians to network in a safe and pure environment; a first of its kind.
|PIC1|Not only unique and pioneering, Xianz.com provided also a place where Christian music artists could reach their fans. Thousands of believers logging on allowed artists like Sonic Flood, Chris Rice, Darlene Zschech, Hillsong United, and a host of other Christian bands and artists to reach out to them concerning their faith.
"We at INO Records are excited about Xianz.com. We are looking forward to watching the community grow and serve as an outlet for our artists and their ministry," says Amy Eubanks, Director of New Media at INO Records. INO’s roster includes Mercy Me, Chris Rice, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Disciple, Mark Harris, and several other high profile artists.
As 90 million people use MySpace.com around the world, vulnerable users have fallen victim to predators, who have assaulted, abducted and, in some cases, murdered the people they meet online. In addition, thousands of teens and young adults have been led to moral corruption through the images and people they interacted with online.
Prolific American author and speaker Vicky Courtney wrote in her website: “A year ago, I felt like I was the lone voice in the wilderness crying out over the dangers of MySpace.com. I was tipped off to the site by a fellow mum who shared a heart-breaking tale of how a “good girl” in the church youth group had uploaded provocative pictures of herself on her MySpace page.”
Robbie Davidson, founder of Xianz.com, says, "We wanted to provide a safe environment where Christians can really have a sense of community and fellowship. You would be amazed at the emails and testimonials I am getting on a daily basis from people who feel like that have finally found a home online."
Meanwhile, in response to the growing concerns about online behaviour on MySpace.com, a couple of classroom teachers, Julie and Brian Dixon have now produced a DVD resource to help parents protect their kids.
