It is already confirmed that Xiaomi will launch its new Mi 5s iteration next week. Meanwhile, prior to its official announcement, benchmark results supposedly paint a powerful flagship for the step-up Mi 5 flagship.
In a leaked AnTuTu benchmark score, it is revealed that the new Xiaomi Mi 5s scores an impressive 164,002 rating. According to Android Pure, the benchmark scores were reportedly leaked from the Weibo account of Xiaomi, so it leads some credence as to its authenticity. Should this prove true, the Xiaomi Mi 5s will be an impressive flagship iteration since the score reflects a competitive range from other noted flagships like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, or Apple's newly-released iPhone 7.
The benchmark results are not surprising, given that the Mi 5s serves as a step-up iteration for Xiaomi's flagship Mi 5 lineup. Supposed specs for the Mi 5s include the new Snapdragon 821 processor, as well as a massive 6-GB RAM. However, GSM Arena points out that, even with an impressive AnTuTu score, the benchmark stress tests are artificial, and real-world performance may be different for each user.
Other purported specs include a 5.1-inch screen, said to have QHD resolution, as well as a pressure-sensitive feature that gives it 3D Touch-like options. In addition, there is also a reported premium variant that will feature up to 256 GB of onboard storage. There is also USB Type-C connectivity, as well as a 3,490 mAh battery.
Xiaomi has already sent out invites to a Sept. 27 event. Though the tech maker has yet to come out with its launch plans, it is expected that the Mi 5s will appear on the event. Meanwhile, there are talks that Xiaomi may also launch two flagships on the event. Previously, another Xiaomi flagship, the Mi Note 2, is also rumored to be revealed later this month.
