Xiaomi is said to launch its next flagship as a full lineup, with a top-tier version even featuring 8 GB of RAM.
According to Android Pure, an alleged screenshot of the prototype's settings tab is making its rounds online. Interestingly, the image reveals that the next Xiaomi flagship, the Mi Note 2, is supposed to come out with a premium variant. This top-tier flagship iteration, according to the supposed leak, will carry 8 GB of RAM. The variant has been dubbed as the Mi Note 2 Pro.
Aside from having massive RAM capacity, the supposed leak also shows that the Mi Note 2 Pro will come out with Android 7.0 Nougat onboard, and this may also extend to the base model of the series.
While it remains unconfirmed, having the latest Android platform for the Xiaomi flagship is highly likely, given that Google has already started rolling out the full version of Android Nougat 7.0 to its lineups, with non-Google devices next in line. In fact, rumor has it that Google is already lining up a platform update, and even has Android Nougat 7.1 ready for its devices.
Meanwhile, aside from the 8-GB RAM, the upcoming premium version of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also expected to come out with a step-up Snapdragon 821 processor. Should this come true, the Mi Note 2 Pro will serve as the top-level lineup iteration since the base model is only expected to come out carrying a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
Other purported specs for the Mi Note 2 Pro include as much as 256 GB of onboard storage — though it is unclear if it will be expandable — a pressure sensitive display with 3D Touch-like features, and similar dimensions to its predecessors — meaning a 5.7-inch screen but with 2K resolution.
It is said that Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 lineup on Sept. 24.
