New details about the upcoming "Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" anime were released prior to the Japanese animated series' premiere date.

A report from Japanese-language website ASCII, that was translated by The YG Organization, revealed that series protagonist Fujiki Yusaku will be facing two different organizations. One of them is expected to be the main villain in the anime's upcoming season.

According to the plot synopsis, SOL Technology Inc. from Den City, which owns an advanced network technology, will make a virtual reality (VR) space known as the "LINK VRAINS." But the said VR space will be infiltrated by a mysterious group of hackers known as "The Knights of Hanoi" that will hack the systems using Duels.

The report also mentions that one Duelist named Playmaker will emerge to try and stop the hackers from executing their plans. The Playmaker happens to be the high-school student named Fujiki Yusaku, who will do everything to learn the truth about the mystery of the past.

While trying to learn the truth, Yusaku will stumble upon a mysterious AI program that both the SOL Technology Inc. and The Knights of Hanoi have long been searching for. However, his new discovery will result to something unexpected.

Aside from Yusaku, the upcoming "Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" anime will also feature other characters like Yusaku's rival Go Onizuka and Yusaku's classmate Aoi Zaizen. According to reports, Go Onizuka will duel using the name GO, while Aoi will use the duel name Blue Angel.

Comic Book also reports that "Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" will feature the Speed Duel format that was also used in the Dual Links game, as well as the official "Yu-Gi-Oh!" trading card game. However, there are no words yet if the rules will be applied in the game's VR arena or when doing the real-life tournaments.

"Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" will be released in Japan in May 2017.
