Ford is continuing the retro vibe of the iconic Mustang heritage with their 2016 Ford Mustang GT model, while also unveiling the exclusive California Special and Pony Package which will be available by fall and by the end of the year, respectively.

Digital Trends reports that the American multinational automaker said that the re-introduction of turn-signal indicators mounted on the hood vents, which first appeared on the 1967 Mustang, was due to popular demand.

"Mustang enthusiasts are not shy about telling us what they want and we're constantly exploring ideas together with our engineering team to develop new features we know our customers will love," said Melanie Banker, Mustang marketing manager at Ford Motor Company.

According to her, the GT model's new hood vent indicators are "a perfect example of us communicating customer feedback to Mustang engineers."

Meanwhile, the Sync 3, Ford's generation communications and entertainment system, is available in the GT Premium Package. According to the Gospel Herald, it will replace the MyFord Touch, which received negative feedbacks from Mustang owners. Sync 3 is said to be faster and easier to use, with AppLink functionality and improved voice command. It can also update system software using a Wi-Fi network.

Also making a comeback on the new Mustang is the "over-the-top" racing stripes, which are offered in black or silver. This painted black roof option is made available for the EcoBoost-equipped Mustang and Mustang GT.

The new Pony Package, on the other hand, will feature a unique 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, side stripe, tri-bar pony logo on the grille, and chrome window surround. For those who prefer a sleeker look, the Black Accent Package, with its special 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, dark tail lamp trim, and black decklid spoiler, is the perfect choice.

The 2016 Mustang GT is priced at $54,995 and will be available in the third quarter of 2015.
